It is rare to have such clarity in grad level textbook.
Everything is crystal-clear, and the examples use step-by-step approach.
You can "understand" the topic, instead of blindly using the equations in highlighting box.
I have another textbook required by class,
but this book is the one I use to teach myself.

The theory of optimal control systems has grown and flourished since the 1960's. Many texts, written on varying levels of sophistication, have been published on the subject.
